What Exactly is an eBook?
Ed Zivkovic

The term eBook is short for electronic book, and is a book designed to be delivered online by email or download, and that can be read either on-screen or be printed out.

eBooks are very popular in web business and Internet marketing since they are simple to deliver, and do not need renewing once sold. Overhead costs for eBooks are therefore very low.

eBooks are available on any topic you can think of, and most Internet marketing strategies involve the marketing of an eBook somewhere along the line.

eBook Uses

  • It may be the main product of the site.
  • Use it as a bonus item.
  • An incentive for people to sign up to your autoresponse newsletter.
  • A free publicity tool.
  • A news-letter format.
  • A sales tool.

eBook Aliases

An eBook can also be called a Special Report which means that the author is under no pressure to make an eBook a specific length. For example, if the author feels that the length of the eBook is too short to be called a book, it can simply be called a Special Report.

The eBook Alias is created by the author of the work.

Other eBook aliases include: White Paper, Course, 3-Part Mini Course (or however many parts there is), Almanac, Directory, Tutorial, Guide, Reference Guide, Handbook, Encyclopedia, Manual, Portfolio.

Multimedia eBooks

Multimedia eBooks are becoming more popular as audio and video capability becomes more common online. There is nothing like a video presentation with a book to make your reader sit up and listen - or sit up, listen and look that should be!

Audio has been around for a while, but it is only relatively recently that it has been commonly used in the form of multimedia books. Software is required to create multimedia eBooks, but these are now commonly available online.

Multimedia eBooks are more than just a gimmick.

They make a music lesson come alive, or a history of music or opera much easier to follow with samples of actual music rather than just words.

Instructional/educational eBooks are much easier to understand if backed up by a video. Because adult education is one of the hottest booming industries today, there is an unlimited number of possibilities for this type of product.

eBook Marketing

eBook marketing is commonplace online, and the first product created by anybody involved in web business or Internet marketing is more likely to be an eBook than any other type of product.

Benefits of developing eBook products:

Because the product gets downloaded, the entire sales and product delivery processs can be placed on auto-pilot. This means that you need never be involved in taking orders or packaging and shipping the product. Other benefits include:

  • An eBook can be self-published by the author.
  • An eBook can be sold an unlimited number of times.
  • Can be written and published almost as quickly as a new trend is discovered.
  • It is easy to update an eBook and release a new version.
  • World-Wide markets which can be reached on the Internet instantly.

If you learn how to create eBooks, you will be ideally equipped to enter the arena of web business and Internet marketing, because you will be able to create products and free publicity tools as you need them.
